VIRE is a robust and efficient machine vision solution which is used to ascertain the presence of an object from a set of multiple objects in any given scenario. VIRE can recognise and distinguish single or multiple objects which are visible within the camera view from a large group of different objects with equally as recognizable and distinguishable feature-points. It has been designed to allow the end users to feed images of the objects that they wish to be recognised in preparation for identification of the target object in a given scene. The ability to select the desired images to be recognized allows the user to specifically tailor VIRE to suit their needs exactly.
Stabilised by its tolerance to distortion, scale, orientation, illumination change and to visual cluttering VIRE has proven to remain applicable to many situations. It is possible to use the VIRE to create specified applications for baggage identification and alert and also to recognise and detect weaponry. With a speed detection of ~25fps VIRE has achieved an accuracy of 97.3% and is easily realisable in standalone computers, servers, mobile platforms and built-in camera hardware.
